Meet Sprocket. He’s a very good boy, as well as this girl’s best friend. He’d much rather come out with me to the bar than be stuck home alone. While not every place is cool enough to allow canine clientele, there are many establishments where a girl can have a beer and bring the dog along. I decided to start recording our adventures here. So, welcome to Barkeasy, the NYC dog blog!
One note: Sprocket is a pretty special guy. He’s very calm in large, loud crowds, is good with strangers (and strange dogs), doesn’t have much to say, and enjoys public transportation — but your puppy might not like the nightlife. A bar full of drunk people is the last place you want to take a shy or aggressive dog. So take it easy and don’t feel bad about leaving rover at home (you can always stay in for the night).

I look forward to reading about the various places in NYC that dogs can go. My Pit-girl Suede is the one that I could take anywhere because she has the perfect laid-back personality for just hanging out at the bistro…but her size would likely scare the poop out of everyone…my two little ones – The Blues Brothers – Jake & Ellwood, I could easily bring because of their size..but they are like hounds of hell…LOL

Hey thanks!! Welcome to our dog blog!
We see a lot of big dogs in the outer borough neighborhood bars who are excellent to hang out with, but are kinda restricted to wherever they can make it around the block. Do you take your little guys to any of the small dog parks? Those places are insane, tiny dogs can be such monsters sometimes! I’m so lucky that Sprocket is the perfect combination of size and sweetness!!
